On 11 February 1959 the Federation of South Arabian Emirates was created. It comprised the states of 'Aqrabi, 'Awdhali, Bayhan, Dali', Dhatina, Fadhli, Lahej, Lower 'Awlaqi, Lower Yafa', Upper 'Awlaqi (Sheikhdom) and Wahidi.
