PichiAvo is known for combining art, sculpture artwork, architecture, space and urban setting into one. To see it properly, I had to make my way right down an alleyway that was the rear entrance of some shops. I was astounded at what I had found, and can’t quite believe I hadn’t seen it before. So pretty!

Spanish street art duo PichiAvo were invited to paint for Wonderwalls Port Adelaide, one the largest mural festival in South Australia. I have only recently been interested in street art after going on a street-art tour in Brick Lane, London. Great stuff.I LOVE good street art and always look for it while traveling. International street artists as wells as national and local artists have created astounding pieces of street art around Port Adelaide that leaving visitors gaping in awe. I seek it out whenever I travel and love finding it hidden down laneways and back alleys. The colours are always so bright. Overall there are now over fifty large pieces of street art in Port Adelaide, and many more smaller ones. I’ve been to Adelaide but I wish I had been able to see these whilst I was there. My favourite piece this year is “The Love Birds” by PHAT1 & Lady Diva from New Zealand (see grren and blue bird photo below). A few years ago I was walking down a street I have walked down many times over the years and out of the corner of my eye I saw the edge of a mural on the back of a building.

Artists have been tasked with transforming bland walls into high profile destinations across Port Adelaide’s city centre. The three-day Street Art Festival will bring the Port and greater Adelaide community together with world class artists, South Australia’s emerging talents and a selection of the best local Port creatives. I’ve only added a small selection of the artwork. When I used to think of Port Adelaide, I thought of dolphins, heritage buildings, and, well, that's essentially all. There is nothing better than seeing a plain brick wall turned into an amazing canvas. While the art works are found all over the area, if you are looking for a few pieces in one place, take a look around the Port Adelaide lighthouse where there are quite a few pieces of the hoarding, and also around the Pirate Life Brewery, which is home to one of my favourites, a huge peacock, as well as others too. A whole weekend was put aside for the festival and I enjoyed wandering the streets and watching as the new artworks took shape. Our Port has been transformed into a giant, outdoor gallery as result of the 2015 and 2017 Wonderwalls street art festivals.
