The Oxford Campus, the original site of Emory College when it was founded in 1836, is located about 40 miles east of Atlanta in Oxford, Georgia.The Office of Sustainability was created in 2006 to guide Emory’s transformative practices and sustainable choices, but the University has followed a long path to becoming a recognized sustainability leader in higher education.No matter your major or role in the sustainability community, educational opportunities do not end in the classroom.
The course is named for Charles V. Lynch, Sr., a 1942 E&H graduate who funded its construction and provided an endowment for its maintenance. MARTA operates a coordinated system of bus and train lines for access to all of Atlanta. Historically, this building was known as Wiley House in deference to its first occupant, Professor Ephraim Emerson Wiley. The field house utilizes a geothermal find for its heating and cooling. Serving as a host to an array of different activities, the McGlothlin Center houses the college and community radio station, WEHC 90.7 FM, dressing rooms and production areas, 461-seat Main Stage Theatre, 120-seat Black Box Theatre, MCA Art Gallery, and the offices of theatre department faculty and art center staff. This effort contributes to achieving some of the Emory’s Psychology and Interdisciplinary Sciences Building(PAIS) was completed in 2009 and included a bioswale in its courtyard as a part of its green design.
The house is named for E&H\u2019s 11th president, a colorful man who mildly scandalized the community because he smoked cigars and played golf. Lynch Links is available for use by students, faculty and staff at no cost, as well as the public for a suggested nominal fee.
The units have a shared living room and kitchen and three bedrooms with two students in each and two full bathrooms for a 3:1 ratio. Collins House is the oldest academic building on campus that is still on its original foundations. The center was constructed in 1923 as a gymnasium and in 1959 the Hagy Addition was added to accommodate several types of student activities.
