Celebrating the birthday of the Prophet, Sallallahu ‘Alayhi Wasalam, is an … [7]Written by the one in need of Allaah:[1] Narrated by Jaabir Ibn Abdillah; Collected by Tirmidhee[2] Narrated by ‘Irbaadh ibn Saariyah; Collected by Abu Dawood & Tirmidhee[3] Taaj ad-Deen al-Maaliki; Al-Mawrid fee amalil-al-mawlid[4] Al-Haafidh as-Sakhaawee, as mentioned in Subul al-Husaa war-Rishaad[5] The former Grand Mufti of Egypt, Muhammad bin Bakheet al-Mutee’ee, in his book: “Ahsan al Kalaam fi ma yatlaq bi sunnah wal biddah minal ahkaam ”[6] Narrated by ‘Aaisha; Collected by Muslim[7] Narrated by Ibn Umar; Collected by Abu Dawood & AhmadHe is a graduate of the Islaamic University of Madeenah, having graduated from the Institute of Arabic Language, and later the Faculty of Sharee'ah in 2010. This is commonly seen among many of those who observe the Beda’s of the Mawlid, when they call upon the Messenger, Sallallahu ‘Alayhi wa salam, instead of Allaah, and ask him for support, and sing Qaseedahs (odes) of Shirk praising him, like Qaseedat al-Burdah etc.To those who celebrate this day, we say there are many authentic traditions of the Prophet Sallallahu ‘Alayhi wa salam that you did not complete doing, then why would you start something that he never did? Yet others hold these celebrations in the mosques, and some of them hold them in their houses. Some people however transcend the boundaries by engaging in Haram (unlawful) and reprehensible things, such as free mixing of men and women, dancing and singing, or committing actions of Shirk (polytheism) such as seeking the help of the Prophet, Sallallahu ‘Alayhi wa salam, calling upon him, seeking his support against their enemies and so on.Whatever form it takes and whatever the intentions of those doing this, there is no doubt that Mawlid is an invented, Haram innovation which was introduced after the three best centuries, in order to corrupt the religion of the Muslims.Below we take a look at three reasons why celebrating the birth of the Holy Prophet is an innovation and therefore a forbidden (Haram) act.Celebrating birthdays is not part of the Sunnah of the Messenger, Sallallahu ‘Alayhi Wasalam, or of the Caliphs who succeeded him. Immitation of the Kuffar. We follow the Sunnah of our beloved Prophet (sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam); we perform the actions … Since this is the case, then it is a forbidden innovation. The Prophet, Sallallahu ‘Alayhi wa salam, said: None can get close to Allaah by acts of worship which were not performed by the Prophet Sallallahu ‘Alayhi wa salam, his companions and the four righteous Caliph that succeeded him. In the name of Allaah; all praise is due to Allaah; May peace and blessings be upon the best of mankind, Muhammad the Messenger of Allaah. Those who celebrate the Prophet’s birthday do so because they claim to love the Prophet (sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam); as a result they accuse those who refuse to celebrate Milaad an-Nabee as being haters of the Prophet (sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam).… and every innovation is misguidance and all misguidance is in the Hell-Fire [1]Upon you is my Sunnah, and the Sunnah of the Righteous Guided Caliphs [2]I do not know of any credible evidence established from either the Qur’an or Sunnah in regards to the Prophet’s birthday; neither has such an action been related back to anyone of the scholars of the Ummah. The Hadith tells us that it is forbidden to imitate the non-believers and we are commanded to differ from them.

Among the reprehensible innovations that people have invented is the celebration of the birth of the Prophet, Sallallahu ‘Alayhi Wasalam, in the month of Rabee’ al-Awwal.Some people simply make it an occasion to gather and read the story of the Mawlid, then they present speeches and Qaseedahs (songs) on this occasion. The Prophet, Sallallahu ‘Alayhi wa salam, said: Besides being Beda’s and an imitation of the Christians, both of which are Haram, celebrating the birthday of the Prophet, Sallallahu ‘Alayhi wa salam, is also a means that leads to exaggeration and excess in venerating him, which even goes as far as calling upon him (making Du’a’ i.e., supplicating to him) and seeking his help, instead of calling upon Allaah.
