I had no idea from just watching TV. He received death threats. Lots of stories and insights about teammates and opponents, baseball managers and executives, and sportswriters, as well as his frustrations with the way black players were treated - both during and after their playing careers. Truly a great ball player and a slient hero for all and the game of baseball.I live in Eau Claire and Hank really got started here.

In the early 1970's, as Hank Aaron was chasing Babe Ruth's career home run record, he received mountains of racially motivated hate mail. He helped to integrate the South Atlantic (Sally) League--a horrible experience--and within two years was playing for the Braves in Milwaukee, Wis., a city that loved him; after 13 years the team moved to Atlanta, where he was shown little affection. Hank Aaron is a true American hero, and this book gives quite a bit of information on his early days and his struggles both on and off the field.
