Over the course of the past month our club has been targeted on at least three occasions by vandals and earlier this week we discovered several smashed seats in the stand, broken windows and three goalposts were broken beyond repair. The posts are ones used by our youth section for their weekly training sessions – which are due to restart next week following lockdown – and also for their games.Youth section Treasurer, Claire Kidd, said “Since the news about the vandalism to our goals the messages of support we have received has been humbling.“Over the past few days we have been looking at how we can replace the goals – but we don’t have a spare £2,300 lying around to simply go and buy new ones.“This couldn’t have come at a worse time for us as we have been closed due to the lockdown and are due to start back on Monday with over 120 kids due to take part in training sessions over the week.“We will do all we can to ensure that local kids can get back training next week and we hope that we can find a temporary solution until we raise the funds to buy new goals.“As a club we keep our charges as low as possible – probably the lowest in our area – as we know that families can find it difficult to pay regular fees.“We have also taken the decision not to charge families for football for the next few months so that they can re-adjust to life as we move out of lockdown.“This crowdfunding appeal has been set up to help us raise money so we can get the goals replaced as soon as possible.“It is unfortunate when things like this happen, but we won’t let it get us down we will continue to move forward and offer local children and young people good quality football opportunities.”All content including images on this site is owned by Civil Service Strollers and shouldn’t be used without permission.
